THE SPRING EDIT
Substack crushes, my new favorite bar(s) in Brooklyn, and why you don't need a skincare routine when you're having S-tier orgasms.
Hi hello!
Here’s a quick spring recap before I go rogue & experiment with some new content. Lil sneak peek at the end of this edit.
Enjoy :)

Substack Crushes
Kareem Rahma — Another New Thing
Comedian and host of Subway Takes joins Substack to bring us poetry, an interview series called ‘Textual Encounters,’ and his thoughts on trying breast milk.
A daily newsletter on culture, fashion, and marketing by an NYC-based creative strategist. A great mix of content; from deep-dives on branding to quick, punchy thoughts on collaborations + product releases in food, fashion, and technology.
Katie AKA Baby Tamago — The Sunday Stack
From the obsession with trad wives to Nara Smith, it feels like everyone & their mother is making cooking content these days. IMO, Katie’s cooking videos & newsletter are top tier. Her content is original, honest, and hilarious. This tortellini pasta salad is a personal favorite:
Wildly popular business newsletter by an NYC hot girl. Quick, bullet point commentary across pop culture and the business world. Here’s one of her free posts: Phone, wallet, keys, gun. If you read both Emily & Jake’s newsletters, you’ll have an unmatched pulse on culture & business news.
Favorites in Feed: Instagram
Alex Delany — NYC Chef & DJ who regularly posts carousels of the best things he’s eaten that week. Great, unique recs from someone with good taste.
Usal Project — Every brand is trying to be a ~community~ these days and IMO, Usal is the blueprint for both. Their branding is exceptional & it appears that they’ve built a genuine community. I’ve heard whispers that they’re coming to NYC in some capacity but don’t quote me on that.
Thumn’s Dinner Club — Biased because I know and adore her but flipping through Thumn’s posts brings me so much joy. Dinner party inspiration + Western /Middle-Eastern fusion recipes. You can tell how much love goes into her cooking. She just launched a Substack too!
Horses and Memories — A brilliant meme page with a truly original format. I’ve never seen anything like it. The admin of this page is incredibly sharp and her memes are beautiful, confusing, and painfully relatable.
Reading
All Fours — Miranda July
Miranda’s writing makes me feel like I have take a lap after every sentence. I knew right away (I’m talking less than 3 pages in) that this would be my favorite book of 2024.
Every piece Jia Tolentino has written for the New Yorker
After reading Trick Mirror & watching Jia interview Miranda July in April, I’ve been on a bit of a Jia bender. Some of my recent favorites:
The Hidden Pregnancy Experiment — Jia attempts to hide her 2nd pregnancy from her phone and the algorithms.
How Cocomelon Captures Our Children’s Attention — A deep dive on the animation that entertains young children for billions of hours every year.
Exploring
My new favorite bar(s). 2 neighboring, natural wine bars by the same owners. Tadpole has a lusty red, lounge-esque interior set up for live music + DJ’s alike. Frog has a great pool table. Plenty of outdoor seating & you can flow between the 2 backyards. They also host incredible pop-ups — recent collaborations: BeHomeForDinner, Alex Baker, + Russel Markus. Hasan Sahin Erdal will be making kebabs & salad on Monday at 6pm.
Lives up to it’s name. Rich, cozy food. Thoughtful & quirky decor. Feels like someone’s living room. The perfect date spot.
Casual Japanese cafe in Greenpoint ft. a back patio and a shop with knickknacks + homegoods. Perfect spot for a coffee or a casual, healthy meal.
Dobbin Street in Greenpoint
One of the best streets for vintage + general gift shopping in this area. Grab a coffee at & cruise down this block. Check out Dream Fishing Tackle, Dobbin St. Vintage Co-op, Feng Sway, & Seven Wonders Collective.
Secondhand book collection + wine bar in Bed Stuy. Lovely outdoor space. No laptops allowed. They have a great calendar of events including backyard movie nights.
Recommending
My Skin Stack:
I’m not mature enough to have a skincare routine yet, but here are 4 things that have been majorly contributing to my spring/summer glow:
Salty Face — I swear by this tanning set. The brush applicator works like a charm. It’s super lightweight & gives you an even, natural tan in just a few hours.
L’Oreal Lumi Glotion — I’ve been using this since I was in 8th grade and I swear by it. The best liquid foundation. Salty Face, light moisturizer, and a glob of this is truly all you need.
Bio Oil — Their skincare oil is amazing. My roommate told me that my limbs feel like Barbie. Also great for scars + stretch marks.
Orgasms — Not DIY ones. From someone who has done their homework.
Overalls
I truly believe that everyone needs a good pair of overalls. I get so many compliments on mine. They’re this pair from Good American. They don’t sell them anymore but they’re decently easy to find for resale. Can’t recommend them enough. My favorite pair of jeans are also from Good American (not listed on the site anymore(?!) but also listed on Poshmark).
…
Yes, it’s a Kardashian brand but just as Kim reallllly did something with Skims (this dress is the most comfortable, durable, flattering piece of clothing I have ever owned — I literally fell off a golf cart, rolled down a hill, bruised my whole body AND cracked my head open wearing this dress and it didn’t show any signs of distress) Khloe’s denim has won me over.
Citibike Boyz merch
A group of BMX bikers who do tricks on Silver Stallions™ (AKA electric Citibikes). Not only is their Instagram account wildly entertaining, they have incredible merch by Peels NYC. Limited drops of reasonably priced, high quality hats, clothes, + accessories.
Discovered these on a late night out. In the 3 minutes that Julia left me alone to order margaritas and chicken fingers from the bar, I bought us matching hats. Can confirm that riding a Silver Stallion™ around the city wearing this hat feels remarkable.
The next few posts might look a bit different. Stay tuned for:
